Screening & Education Programs

Title III-D (Senior Citizens)
Title III-D of the Older Americans Act provides Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Services grants to Area Agencies on Aging. These grants support any of the 15 health-relates services, such as health risk evaluations, screening, nutrition counseling, health promotion programs, physical fitness and exercise programs, home injury control screening and the screening for the prevention of depression.  Through Title III-D, we can help with services such as assistance in receiving a mammogram, blood pressure checks both in office and at various locations throughout the community, and more.

Kan Be Healthy (Well Child Screenings)
We provide Kan Be Healthy screenings (Medicaid) as well as Well Child screenings (private insurance) and Child Health Assessments (no insurance, fee applies) by appointment at both office locations.  If your child has Medicaid insurance, these exams are required as part of the Kancare system.  Any of these three options will provide you with documentation you can present at your child’s school for enrollment requirements.  Please note that these screenings do NOT constitute a sports physical.

Newborn Screening Program
The Kansas newborn screening program is a collaborative effort between public health, hospitals, providers and the parents of the infants screened.   Screening is a public health service. Since 1965, it has been available to all infants in Kansas and it is done shortly after birth.

Title X (Family Planning Program)
For nearly 50 years, the Title X (ten) family planning program has served as the nation’s only dedicated source of federal funding for family planning. Annually funded by Congress through the discretionary appropriations process, the Title X program supports high-quality, culturally sensitive family planning services and other preventive health care for low-income, under-insured and uninsured individuals who may otherwise lack access to health care.

Blood Lead Screening 
While substantial environmental improvements have been made to reduce exposure to lead, there are still over four million children estimated to reside in housing where they are exposed to lead.  Lead exposure can affect nearly every system in the body.  Preschools and elementary schools require lead testing for some grade levels.

Hemoglobin Testing
A hemoglobin test measures the amount of hemoglobin in your blood. Hemoglobin is a protein in your red blood cells that carries oxygen to your body’s organs and tissues and transports carbon dioxide from your organs and tissues back to your lungs.  If a hemoglobin test reveals that your hemoglobin level is lower than normal, it means you have a low red blood cell count (anemia). Anemia can have many different causes, including vitamin deficiencies, bleeding and chronic diseases.

A1C Testing
The A1C test is a blood test that provides information about your average levels of blood glucose, also called blood sugar, over the past 3 months.   The A1C test can be used to diagnose type 2 diabetes and prediabetes. The A1C test is also the primary test used for diabetes management.  Please note that we do not diagnose diabetes or prediabetes.  We will refer you to  your primary physician in the event of unusual readings.  Our testing is for monitoring purposes.
