Cowley First-Cowley County Economic Development Partnership is hosting the ever popular ‘Improving Supervisor Skills’ class. This is another way that Cowley First strives to support careers and foster workforce development.

The Improving Supervisory Skills seminar will be presented by Wichita State Center for Management Development in Winfield on Tuesday, April 2, 2019.

Class will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Winfield Area Chamber of Commerce, 123 E. 9th Avenue.  Due to the collaborative effort, WSU CMD classes held in Cowley County are offered at a greatly reduced cost. Supervisor Skills rate is only $150 compared to the campus rate of $249 per day, so a huge savings for local employers. Registration is being handled by Cowley First with a deadline date of March 18, unless the class fills sooner.

Improving Supervisor Skills seminar is designed for the newly promoted supervisors, soon to be promoted team leaders and managers that find it necessary to get work done through their employees. Experienced supervisors should also attend to review and update their skills.

Dr. Gerald Graham, R.P. Clinton Distinguished Professor of Management at Wichita State University, Barton School of Business, will be leading the presentation. Known throughout the country for his consulting skills and management workshops to diverse business and professional organizations, Dr. Graham has conducted training and development programs for more than 750,000 participants in 44 different states and in every Canadian Providence.

“Dr. Graham has presented numerous times for Cowley First and always engages the audience”, said Kerri Falletti, Cowley First Director. “This particular seminar is very popular and in high demand.  The audience is always engaged as the subject matter is relevant no matter what business you work for or how long you have held your leadership role.”

A countywide economic development partnership of Cowley County, City of Arkansas City, City of Winfield and public-private businesses, Cowley First is tasked with workforce development to support local businesses.
